水は道家思想の象徴だが，またそれは禅の極意であり，武術の極意でもある。水のごとく，自由自在に，柔らかくしなやかに動き，そして生きる。それが禅の人である武道家の生き方である。日々の稽古で人を制する力と技を練りつつも，決して人と争うことはない。その生き方ができるのは，武道家としての自分の存在をマインドフルに観察できているからである。水のごとく，環境に応じて自在に形を変え，世界と生命にエナジーを与える。それが武道家である。
Water is a symbol of the philosophy of Taoists, and an essence of not only Zen but also martial arts. Practitioners of Zen and martial arts, with freedom, move and live in a soft and elastic way, like water. That is a life style of Budo-ka, who are people of Zen. While they develop the force and techniques to control others in their every practice, they never fight with them. The reason why they can live in such a manner is that they have an ability to observe their self-existence as Budo-ka in a mindful way. They are like water, changing their form freely according to the circumstances, giving energy to the world and lives. That is Budo-ka.
