Karate Remains Budo against Sportization

The reason why karate can not be highly sportized is that karate as budo is essentially a physical activity in which KATAs are passed down from teachers (masters) to students (disciples), and KARATEKAs practice and polish these KATAs by themselves entirely. Originally, karate is not a competition for win and loss by fights between two like kumite. Also, it is not a competition for good and bad on appearance of KATAs. We can not judge the ability to survive our practical life by the strength and weakness of kumite. We can not judge the substantial performance of KATAs only by the appearance of them. Then, it is utterly impossible to forcibly determine on superiority and inferiority in the kumite and kata competitions. From this reason, it is difficult to strictly sportize karate with unified rules and standards for judging. Any sport is not approved before it does not have strict rules and judgments satisfying everyone. If the rules and judgments were not clear, most of people could not be satisfied with the results of the games, and people who both play and watch the games would vaguely keep dissatisfaction.
