After Reading Lao Tsu: Chapter 7

They are not attached to winning by fighting. Originally, they do not fight with others. Such individuals are the real Budo-ka. They have an air of calmness, largeness, and deepness like heaven and earth. Not fighting with others means not being self-centered, that is, letting go of the attachment to the self. In such a way, being mindfully away from values and appraisals leads to peace of mind. Peace of mind naturally leads to peace of body, too. Learning fighting arts is making mind and body peaceful. Therefore, the real Budo-ka are peaceful, broad, and profound like heaven and earth.

After Reading Lao Tsu: Chapter 6

The reason why martial arts are "arts" is that the arts yield a maximum benefit by a minimum cost. For example, it can be said that the artists control their opponents with maximum efficiency of the energy flow in their whole body harmonizing with the breath. In order for it to be realized, it is necessary to eliminate all waste. So to speak, it is to be free from attachments. It is letting themselves go with the heaven and the earth, and sticking to nothing. If they entirely let go of all of the attachments, they would get eternal strength and abundance. It is martial arts that is aimed at this. Mindful life is also the same.

After Reading Lao Tsu: Chapter 5

Once you pile a training of developing awareness of the breath and body through the practice of martial arts, it will bring you mindfulness. Mindful state is being free from any judgement of value, or being not caught up in any interest and speculation. In that way, regularly concentrate on the things that you should do here now in a patient and soft way. In the course of time, unexpectedly, that would bring you something rich. If you do so, you would apparently seem like a fool or a simpleton, but a real martial artist, that is a person of Zen, is such a person.

After Reading Lao Tsu: Chapter 4

Budo is the way to harmony. Keeping the practice of combative skills which is Zen,  some day or another, would make us feel the Dharma. The Dharma is the Tao. We would know the great flow of the world, which is the Dharma or the Tao, surrender ourselves to the flow, and be integrated with the world. "I" as the part of the world would be harmonized with "others" without conflicts. Transcending the self and merging into the Tao is becoming gentle, soft, and elastic. That means we receive the great power of the Tao. That is living with martial arts.

After Reading Lao Tsu: Chapter 3

Budo is the practice for being free from the past and future, and being here now. That is an approach to sense that we are in here now on our own "bone and flesh" through the martial techniques of manipulating the physical body, which requires us to keep being entirely just in the present moment. That is a state at will with being released from any value and being free from anything. Naturally, there is absolute ease. Masters of martial arts are, therefore, persons who are at ease with freedom from everything.
